Restaurant Video Feature: What to Expect & How to Prepare
We’re excited to highlight your restaurant with a high-quality video feature that showcases your space, your people, and the dishes that make your spot special. Below is everything you need to know so you can prepare and ensure the process runs smoothly.
⏱ Timing & Scheduling
Total time on-site:
The full production usually takes about 2 hours, but if possible, please allow up to 3 hours so nothing feels rushed.
Best time to schedule:
Choose a window when the restaurant has some activity—enough to feel alive on camera—but not so busy that it becomes chaotic, noisy, or distracting for your staff.
Ideal moments include:
Late morning before lunch begins
Post-lunch, pre-dinner
Slower evenings on weekdays
The goal is an environment with natural movement and ambiance, but without overwhelming background noise or pressure on your team.
🎥 What We Bring
We keep our setup streamlined, but to produce a professional feature, we may bring:
DSLR camera
Mobile phone camera
Small lighting equipment
Lavalier or shotgun microphones
Mini-rig accessories (tripod, stabilizer, etc.)
We don’t require a large footprint, but please ensure we have enough space to set down equipment and move around safely.
📸 What We’ll Capture
During your feature, we’ll collect a mix of photos and video clips to create a polished 2.5–5 minute story about your restaurant.
Photography examples:
Hero shots of signature dishes
Exterior storefront
Interior ambiance / décor
Staff in action
Close-ups of ingredients or drink pours
Video footage typically includes:
Exterior + interior walkthroughs
Kitchen or back-of-house food prep
Plating and final dish shots
Pouring drinks, shaking cocktails, pulling espresso
Servers delivering plates
Signature dish reveals
Details: hands, textures, movement, color, etc.
Interviews with owners + optional staff, bartenders, or regulars
🎤 Interviews
We’ll record a short on-camera interview focused on your story and what makes your restaurant unique. No need to memorize anything—we’ll guide you through it.
Sample questions:
What inspired you to open this restaurant?
What makes this spot special or different from others in the area?
What dish or experience best represents what you do?
What is something fun or unexpected about your team, menu, or origin story?
What do you hope guests feel when they walk through your doors?
What do your regulars love most about this place?
Interviews generally take 10–20 minutes.
🍽 Food & Drink Prep
Please plan to prepare 2–3 dishes that best represent your brand—usually:
Your best sellers
A signature entrée or specialty
A standout dessert or cocktail
If you offer a craft cocktail or a visual “wow” drink, we recommend including it.
We’ll capture both the behind-the-scenes prep and the finished dish.
🏠 Setting the Space
To help your restaurant look its best on camera, we recommend:
Wiping down all visible surfaces
Removing clutter (boxes, excess menus, POS items, cleaning supplies)
Ensuring all lights are working and turned on
Turning down background music during interviews
Reserving a few tables or spaces for filming so guests aren’t inconvenienced
Small adjustments can make a huge difference on camera.
